When you first connect to spirit  - any by spirit I mean the inner “you” or higher self as well as the spirit world – you need some help! If you try and open up on your own, it can be a bit dangerous. As you begin to open, the spirit world see you as a very bright light glowing in the darkness and they become drawn to you like a moth to a flame. They can also sap your energy by drawing close. So…. The first thing you need to work on is Protection.  Please don’t be scared by this – it’s not like vampires or big scoobie-doo type ghosts are going to come and get you! It’s simply that you need all your energy for yourself! So to avoid head-aches, sickness, aches and pains, protection is a must. The first thing you have to learn is that YOU are in control. YOU have free will and nothing can take that away.  The first tool in gaining control is …. Protection.

Once you have mastered protection, the other really important thing you need to do is meet and become familiar with your spirit guide. He or she is the most important person in your development. Any spiritual work you do will come directly through your Guide, so before you attempt ANYTHING  - and this is really important – you MUST get to know your Guide.

 

Some people want to rush through development. They want to get straight on with the tarot reading or the clairvoyance, and yes, you can do it without your guide – but it won’t be half as good as if you do it together and it can be quite risky. I have known people “burn out” because they have jumped in with both feet and been impatient. Please, take your time. It will all be worth it in the end. Michael and I have been doing this for 30 years now, and we are still learning every day – it’s a never-ending process.

 

Therefore, I have included a second meditation called “Meet your Spirit Guide” which you will also see on the links below. This is a powerful meditation given to me directly from my lovely Guide Grey Wolf – please, if you try it, take it seriously and follow my recommendations.

Protection Exercise

 

 

  

Everyone can benefit from using some level of psychic protection in their lives, but if you work as a psychic or healer, or are opening up to this work - even if it’s only an interest in the subject - then you should protect yourself on a daily basis

I have heard people say "like attracts like – I only give out positive energy so I won’t attract negative energy" – wrong, and dangerous! If we spend time around negative people or vibrations – in our work for instance – there is the strong possibility we can take some of that negativity away with us in our aura.

Psychic attacks can also be made by people both alive and discarnate. Just as you may attract the attention of guides and helpers as you follow your spiritual pathway, so you may attract the attention of other less desirable beings. Many who rush into healing without proper guidance and care, are especially at risk. By this I mean people who attend a weekend course in healing and then begin work as "masters", for example.

Fortunately there are a number of ways to protect yourself from these energies.

At a basic level, protection is about keeping healthy. People with a good, healthy constitution are much less likely to pick up negativity. If the aura is kept strong and vibrant any negativity will bounce off and it will be much harder for anything to attack or drain you. I know it’s boring but things like regular exercise, a healthy diet, enough rest and relaxation, no smoking or drugs and very moderate or no drinking will help to keep you well physically and psychically!

Try not to spend too a lot of time near electrical equipment. This will interfere with your own electro-magnetic field.


Keep your thinking positive. Negative thinkers are less healthy generally and can’t repel challenges to their systems as effectively, whether it’s a cold bug or a negative thought-form.

Get outside! Being in nature – particularly by the sea – is a simple yet very powerful way of protecting yourself and recharging your batteries at the same time. It’s literally like plugging yourself into the mains!

There are some simple aura cleansing and protecting routines which will help to keep your energy field in good shape. There are so many available – experiment until you find one that feels right for you.


Stay grounded. Visualise roots growing deep down into the Earth from the soles of your feet. Being ‘well grounded’ offers a great deal of protection. Practice your grounding visualisation every morning. Carry hematite in your pocket if necessary.

Visualise a bubble around yourself, protecting the outer edge of your aura like a strong, flexible egg-shell. Your bubble can be filled with any colour that takes your fancy when you visualise it- blue is always good for protecton. Experiment to see what colour you feel most comfortable with. Make sure that your bubble goes all around you- behind your back and under your feet too. Use your intention to ensure that the bubble repels all negativity, but will allow positive energies to flow through it. Put your bubble in place whenever you feel the need for protection. – and remember to KEEP REINFORCING IT!

You don’t have to visualise a bubble – it can be a protective cloak, the wings of an angel or even a zipped up sleeping bag! As long as if covers you completely, just go with whatever feels right for you.

Develop awareness of your own energy field. If you are in a crowd or on public transport pull your aura in close around you so. You can do this by simple visualisation. Remember to let your aura expand out again afterwards otherwise you will repel your friends too!

If you shower in the morning visualise the water flowing through your energy field carrying away any negativity down the plughole with it. If you prefer a bath you may add sea or rock salt to the water- about a cupful- dissolve it well. Salt has long been renowned for its cleansing properties.

Use crystals. Several of the crystals have strong protective qualities. Favourites are black tourmaline or tourmalinated quartz, but you may also like to try black obsidian or smoky quartz.

Use essential oils. Put a drop in the palm of your hand, then rub your hands together and pass them through your aura. Try Eucalyptus, Juniper or Frankincense. You can use Aura Soma products in a similar way. The Deep Red Pomander is recommended for those working with crystal energies.

Carry a symbol of protection that is meaningful for you, such as a cross, a pentacle or a Star of David. A paper representation will do, but you may prefer a piece of jewellery.

If you think you may have an "attachment":-

Do you:


-Feeling down or angry with no real cause- especially if this is out of character for you?
-Feeling really drained or tired for no reason?
-Having odd thoughts that just don’t feel like you?
-You have feelings of being out of control?
-Bad dreams?

Don’t panic! The vibration of fear is attractive to all sorts of nasties and won’t do you any good anyway. Keep calm and try one of the exercises below. If you still feel something is wrong get in touch with me or Michael or your local Spiritualist Church for help.

Hold your hands under cool running water, especially the wrists. This is especially helpful if the feeling of something ‘not being right’ comes on after being around others.

Take a cleansing shower or salt bath as described before. It may just be some ‘psychic debris’ that needs to be dissolved away.

Visualise a shower of light running through your aura and dissolving any negativity.

Think about who you’ve been talking to! If you communicate with your guides or angels this can help your development as a healer, but if you invite communication with all and sundry you are putting yourself at some risk. Remember there are always bad guys balancing out the good guys. Don’t believe everything you hear – always ASK FOR PROOF. Your true guides will never mind you asking or giving it, for that matter.

Use Sage or Holy Water to smudge/balance your aura.

Carry some black tourmaline with you.

If you feel someone is sending negative thoughts to you visualise a mirror reflecting the negative energy into the earth where it can be absorbed and neutralised.

If you are picking up a lot of negative vibes (or worse) on a regular basis take a good look at your diet, lifestyle and way of working. It is likely that your aura needs to be strengthened. I've found Ted Andrews’ book on psychic protection excellent.

If you are persistently troubled by psychic protection issues it would also be worth consulting an experienced medium or healer.

Getting into the Psychic Zone

To get maximum information from the spirit world or your higher self, you need to work not only on mediumship but on your psychic ability.

Mediumship is connecting with the spirit world – whether it’s your guide or some other entity.

Psychic awareness is connecting to your sixth sense.


We all have a sixth sense and we use it every day. For example, if someone stands "too close" to you, you begin to feel uncomfortable. This is because they are encroaching on your aura – your personal energy field. Your sixth sense is telling you that someone you don’t know may be having access to your energy.

Another good example – you are introduced to someone for the first time. You take an instant dislike to this person – you have no reason to dislike them, you have never met them before – but you simply cannot warm to them. Again your sixth sense telling you that your energies don’t mix well.

What we are going to do is open up this natural skill so you can use it more often. We don’t need to open and close for this – we are not connecting to anything other than our own sixth sense and maybe our guide.

The first thing you need to do is breathe and drop three times.

Put yourself in your special place – the place where you feel most comfortable. If you are aware of your guide you can ask him or her for their assistance.

Visualise your "projector" – this can be a TV screen, a blackboard, a stage – anything where something can be "played out".

Look at the person opposite you – really look into their eyes. What do you feel. When you have a feeling hold it and close your eyes.

Now visualise the person sitting opposite you. I want you to really "see" them. Take in all the details about them. They are standing in front of you and you can see their entire body, head to toe. If you can, imagine them rotating slowly around (don’t worry if you find this bit too hard at the moment, it will come in time).

Health Scan – have a look at their aura – what colours can you "see"? Any dark patches or anything that makes you feel unsettled? What do you feel is wrong there? Now run a "scan" from above their head to under their feet. You can visualise this however you like. I use a green line, like a radar screen running from top to bottom. Wherever the scan stops, there is a problem – again, what do you feel is wrong? If you guide is with you, ask them to tell you information at this stage.

Finances – visualise a chart. The months of the year run along the bottom. £’s run up to the side. See it like a graph – where are the peaks and troughs?

Career - visualise the person opposite at work. What are they doing? What sort of environment are they in? Are they happy or sad? Have a good look around them and pay attention to your feelings when you do this.

Love - visualise a "love" room. You may want to put fluffy pink hearts or cherubs around the place ! Anything that reflects "love" to you. Have a look at the person – do they have anyone with them? What do they look like? Are they happy or sad?

Basically, whatever section you are doing, observe everything and ask your spirit guide to help you.

How do we connect?

A question I asked my guide a long time ago – just how does it work? If you are in a different dimension to me, how are we able to have this relationship and the conversations we have?


He explained it like this…

" Imagine you are a tiny creature living at the very bottom of the deepest ocean. You have never seen daylight. You have no concept of the organisms and animals that live on the levels above you, let alone life on land or, beyond that, the stars and space. Your whole universe is the sea bed – the little bit of sand that you live in. If you were to be taken up to the surface, it would be doubtful that you would survive. The light may be too strong for you. Maybe you need the heavy, denseness of the water to support your physical body – the lack of water pressure may kill you.

Imagine I am a diver. I can’t go right to the bottom – that same heavy denseness would collapse my lungs. Without artificial light I would not be able to see – and if I were to shine a light, I might kill the creatures down there.

So it is with our vibrations. Yours is dense and heavy, mine much lighter. You cannot come all the way up to mine and I cannot come all the way down to yours. We have to meet in the middle. Meditation is the tool that has enabled that connection to take place. Now we are so used to it, we have attuned ourselves to speaking to each other easily, like turning on a light switch – remember the old days? When you first sat in circle? You struggled to speak to me and I struggled to contact you. But we persevered and now we speak every day.

I swim down, you swim up."
