How I met my Spirit Guide

This is another one I am asked about all the time.

The first thing I ever remember that was "paranormal" was when I was about 5 years old. I didn’t have a dad, and my nan looked after me whilst my mom went to work. My brother would have been 11 at the time, and he was at school. My nan was making the beds upstairs and I was playing downstairs in the family room. I remember walking towards the fire and a man’s voice saying, quite sharply "No Susan" which stopped me dead in my tracks (Susan is the name I got called when I was being naughty! It was Sue most of the time).

I asked my nan who it was, and being a wise old bird, she said "that was Jesus. He could tell you were about to hurt yourself, so he stopped you". I accepted this explanation (as a five year old would) and carried on playing. From then on, whenever I heard "Jesus" I listened to what he had to say!

From the Age of about 8 to about 14 my personal Jesus went a bit quiet. No doubt this was influenced by more important things like pop stars, music and boys, but at the age of 14 I had that pull again – anyone who is a medium/psychic will know what I mean. The pull to spirituality. I decided I wanted to be a female vicar and was told this was not possible (it wasn’t at the time which would have been about 1976) and this really annoyed me. Because I was a WOMAN it meant I was excluded! I was so angry! I tried every religion you can think of – catholic, mormon, christadelphian – you name it. I couldn’t get on with any of them. Too many rules which didn’t make sense to me. I once said to a priest "why do I have to tell you my sins? Why can’t I just tell God myself?". You can see why I was a challenge to them!

Then a friend of my mom’s asked us to go a Spiritualist Church. I felt right at home there. Many mediums there told me I was a medium too and I joined their circle at about 16.

First time I sat in circle I was terrified. I thought things were going to come out of the walls at me (I had seen spirit by this time). I closed my eyes as the medium began our meditation, and all I could see was a HUGE cedar tree. There were animals and human faces carved into the tree – a massive totem pole. I heard a man’s voice singing in an Indian chant. I knew this was my guide – now revealing his true self (can you imagine if a 5 year old had seen a native American in the living room? I would have been petrified).

Over the years I got to know him more and more and he told me his name and other bits of information. One day (not so long ago actually) I realised I had never asked about his life on earth in any detail. So I said to him "Hey Grey Wolf, give me something I can research about your life".

I went to sleep that night. I woke at about 3.00 am to heard the word "Ketchikan" whispered in my ear. Surely this was a nonsense word? Still, I wrote it on the pad next to my bed and went back to sleep.

In the morning I thought "what the heck" and googled it. The first thing I saw that Ketchikan is the home of the Tlingit Indian, famed for their totem poles made from cedar trees….

There were many other things on this site (too numerous to go into here) which astounded me. It was like fitting all the pieces of a 30 year old jigsaw together.

So that’s how I met my Grey Wolf. Why don’t you ask your guide for some information – then simply be aware of what goes on around you. If you ask, they will give..

Meditation to meet your Spirit Guide.

My Guide Grey Wolf Gave me this meditation, so all thanks and acknowledgements must go to him. Thank you Grey Wolf – you are my inspiration – quite literally!

This is a powerful meditation and I would recommend doing it with someone else. It’s also a good idea with any meditation to record yourself actually saying it and then playing it back when you intend to do it.  This means you can really relax and get into it and also set yourself a time limit. You can even play some soothing music in the background if you find it helpful.

Before any meditation we being by protecting. Imagine you are inside an egg-shell. The egg-shell covers you completely – you are like the egg inside. The shell is filled with the bright white light of love. Nothing can penetrate this shell. Any negativity is reflected straight back out to where it came from. The only things that leave this protective shell are the little roots that are growing out of your feet. These roots go through the floor and down, down into the earth, where they anchor you to the very centre.

The Meditation

You are in a rowing boat. The boat is gently drifting across a still lake. It’s a hot summer day and you can hear a bird calling in the distance. You are so relaxed, almost on the verge of sleeping… Feel the heat of the sun, hear the birds, smell the ozone..

The boat gently hits the river bank and you get out and stand on the grass. Are you wearing shoes? If not what does the grass feel like? Is it wet or dry?

You notice a well-trodden pathway in the grass which leads into a wood. You begin your walk down the path - you know instinctively that it’s perfectly safe to go into the wood; no harm will come to you. Pay attention to what’s around you.  What sort of trees are in the wood? What colours are most prominent to you? Are there any animals or birds around – what are they doing, how do they make you feel? Can you hear anything?

The wood is like a fairy wood – a story-book kind of place. There are red and white spotted toadstools around and fairy rings. These magical creatures are your friends and are welcoming you into their space – their element – the fairy wood.

As you look around you notice the path is leading up a small hill – at the top of the hill in the distance you can see a bench. What sort of bench is it? Is it made or wood? Iron? Is it painted? What colour is it?  You can see bits and pieces but something is pulling at you to go up there and investigate. So you begin your ascent up the hill….

On the way up, notice everything that is around you. All the sights, smells, feelings and even sometimes tastes of your own magical place. Anything can happen here - there are no boundaries. Anything is possible and everything exists.

As you get nearer to the bench you notice your own aura – you look at your arms and see vivid colours swirling around them. What colour is your aura? How does it make you feel? As you breathe in and out, your aura moves in and out with every breath, and you realise your aura is alive! It is you! It is the very essence of what you are. The colours in your aura are you. re you.

You look up towards the bench – it’s only a matter of yards away now - and you notice there is someone sitting on the bench! You feel you KNOW this person - you know everything about them! You are SO in tune with them, it’s like you have always known them. At this point though, you can only see them from the back view…

Are they male or female? How old are they? What are they wearing? Is there anything prominent about them? Are they wearing a particular colour or style of clothing? How do they make you feel?

You also notice their aura and hey! It’s the same colours as your aura! Their aura is moving in and out as they breathe too! As you get closer and closer the two auras - yours and your Guides – begin to undulate in and out in unison…. In and out, in and out, until you are both vibrating at exactly the same pitch….

As you take your last step up to the bench your guide turns around and meets your gaze….. you look on the face of your Guide for the first time…

(at this point allow yourself at least 5 minutes to speak with your guide, longer if it feels comfortable).

Your Guide tells you that it’s time for you to go back and so you hug – a wonderful hug that transmits unconditional love into your aura. You don’t want to return but know you have to.

Your Guide assures you that this is just the beginning – you two will now work together to make your life happier and more peaceful and bring happiness and peace to others…

Reluctantly you break away and begin to walk back down the path. You turn back just before you enter the fairy wood and your Guide is watching you – as your Guide always will – protecting you and smiling. Your Guide waves to you as you make your way back into the wood.

You follow the path back through the wood.  Notice the things around you – has anything changed?

Then you see your little boat at the end of the path. You climb back in and let the still calm waters carry you back…..

Now count back from ten….. feeling more aware…. Nine…..notice the person sitting next to you….eight…..feel the ground beneath your feet……seven……feel chair under your legs …….six …more and more aware…five……..four………three…..back in the room now…………..two…..fully awake…..one.

After a meditation like this do something grounding. Drink some water, eat some food, do something boring and mundane! This will stop you from feeling tired later on or the next day.
